McAfee removal tool, when enough is enough - rated 5 out of 5

McAfee’s most popular program is the antivirus, but this doesn’t mean that they didn’t get popularity releasing online tools such as McAfee Siteadvisor.
However, when you buy a new computer or laptop you want to be able to choose by yourself what programs to test and use, rather than having it preinstalled with a lot of software that will mostly annoy you – not because the programs are bad, but because you had it installed without giving your consent.

Thus there is an increasing rise in complaints against software publishers that decide to promote this way, and if you’ve bought a computer in the past years it’s impossible not to have uninstalled products that had “extra trials” from important brands such as Norton, CA and even McAfee. It’s no wonder then why among the most popular searches for these products are those that say Norton Removal Tool or McAfee Removal Tool (with Norton is even worse since it seems the most popular search in relation with their brand). The good part is that these companies have released official tools that clean your computer from the files added by their programs. And they really clean everything.

With McAfeee Removal Tool you simply install the MCPR.exe program that they officially provide and run it. You’d expect a lot of warnings such as are you sure you want to do this and so on, but the tool is very quiet, after you install and run, it will immediately uninstall all the McAfee products, a huge list of 27 processes: MPFPCU, MPFP, MPS, SHRED, MPSCU, MSKCU, MSK, EMPROXY, MAS, FWDRIVER, HW, MBK, MCPROXY, MHN, MQCCU, MQC, SHRD, NMC, REDIR, MNA, MWL, MSAD, MOBK, VS, MSC, MCPR, MCSVHCOST.

After all these products are removed you will be asked if you want to restart your computer and a log file will be displayed with everything that was removed. McAfee Removal Tool is an excellent utility that serves perfectly for the purpose of removing every program they have installed.

These are the steps for using the tool successfully:

  • Double click the MCPR.exe

  • A Command Line window will be displayed, and then close automatically.

  • Wait for a second Command Line window to be displayed. Note: Do not double-click MCPR.exe again, you may have to wait up to 1 minute for the next window to appear.

  • After the second window appears, the program will begin the cleanup.

  • Observe the installation, which could take several minutes. The following message will be displayed in the Command Line window: The machine must reboot to complete the un-installation. Reboot now?

  • Press Y on the keyboard.

  • Wait for the computer to restart.

  • Hooray, all McAfee products are now removed from your computer.
